The 2022 edition of the Milan Design Week ended last June. The opportunity for the Hydropolis teams and after two years of absences, to go on site and discover the next trends in the bathroom design and layout.
From 6 to 12 June 2022, the Milan Design Week kept all its promises. The event brought together design stakeholders from around the world influencing future trends at the international level. On the bathroom side, the manufacturers presented many new features. The trend is large volume, colors, material effects and especially comfort. And yes, the 2023 bathroom promises to be your next paradise on earth!
Focus on the ten trends to come in the bathroom of tomorrow, highlighted by the Hydropolis teams during the Milan 2022 design week.
1/ Trend bathroom salon
The 2023 bathroom promises to be your next little paradise on earth. The trend is to furnish version “bathroom”. Armchair, sofa, dressing room, large space, all the comfort is there. This is what the Hydropolis teams could spot in the city of design. The great trendsetters like Antonio Lupi or Ceramica Cielo, see things in large. The bathroom looks like a living room with fittings and furniture designed as a real relaxation area. Everything is done to spend time in the bathroom and treat yourself to a wellness break.
2/ Wood comes into the bathroom
In Milan, nature meets design. Wood comes into the bathroom. It is found as a decorative element, but also in furniture collections. In dressing version as at Casabath, or rather bathroom furniture at Inbani and Idea Group, wood is the trend to come in the bathroom. A material that combines today great technical performance with the latest trends in design and textures. Wood shades that range from light to dark, from the simplest to the most textured design, always with multiple and customizable furnishing solutions to make each space unique.
3/ The emergence of pastel shades in the bathroom
The softness of pastel shades invades the bathroom. Often considered as pale or aging colors, they do not lack dynamism and make a real comeback today. Yellow, green, blue, pink are available in many shades as well on the taps, the bathtub or the basins. At Milan Design Week 2022, brands competed in ingenuity to present vibrant collections. And since the bathroom is the first room in which you start your day, as much as it welcomes you in a relaxed atmosphere filled with energy.
4/ The graphic lines of Casa Mutina
During Milan Design Week 2022, Mutina presented “Paesaggi” by French designer Nathalie du Pasquier. It transforms ceramic tiles into an object of art. A collection that fits both as a coating and a 3D decorative object.

It comes in three models with different geometric shapes: Rettangolo, available in white or black and polychrome, Square in white, red and polychrome, and Tondo, available in green, white and also polychrome.
5/ Sets of materials in the bathroom
Ceramics, wood, natural stone, terracotta, cement come to sublimate your bathrooms by offering us games of materials that give singularity to our interiors. Like at Agape, with the Cenote basin designed by Patricia Urquiola. Resulting from a craft that makes each piece unique, it consists of a refractory clay exterior and an enamelled interior. A mixture of roughness and softness that transforms each piece into a distinctive and precious object.
6/ All height shower cabins for an ultra modern bathroom
Flexibility and innovation are the main trends 2023 for your shower walls. At a time when your bathroom invites itself into your room, the shower cubicle evolves and now adapts to all heights. This is what Vismaravetro presented at Milan Design Week 2022: Suite, a watertight arrangement system that allows to harmoniously separate the shower space from other spaces. The Suite collection is a modular system consisting of fixed panels and doors in aluminum and glass, with a height of up to 270cm with hinges allowing an opening at 180°C. Suite it is also a great customization capacity thanks to the combination of dimensions, profiles, glasses and decorations specific to each bathroom or dressing project.
7/ The old tap collections are back!
And yes to Milan Design Week, there are not only novelties! We also revamp old collections as well as tap manufacturers who revisit iconic collections to the delight of your bathrooms. the iconic “Tara” from Dornbracht, features structured handles and new finishes. A style sometimes classic, sometimes avant-garde for a bathroom always so timeless.
At Zucchetti, it is the faucet “Isy22” that inherits the inimitable DNA of the original collection “Isy” thanks to the talent of Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez. It is now available in an updated form to meet more contemporary needs. New features are appearing such as the progressive mixer or the electronic tap «no touch». Its new diameter of 22 cm, at the origin of its name, makes the product particularly suitable for the hotel industry. But what you will particularly like are its many finishes and new colors for unusual bathrooms.

8/ Towel dryers enhance the bathroom
If there is one element that has particularly evolved in the last ten years in the world of the bathroom, it is the towel dryer. Manufacturers have developed modular and design collections, able to integrate perfectly into any room of the house.
Specialist in stainless steel, Cea design offers in particular “Equilibrio”, an electric towel dryer with clean lines. Thanks to its modular design, available in different lengths (580 mm and 1060 mm), it adapts perfectly to all interior parts. Equilibrio can be installed both horizontally and vertically. At the Design Week in Milan 2022, Caleido presented his latest sculptural creation “Brasilia”. This towel dryer innovates by its multiple features. Almost entirely made of aluminium, recyclable at the end of its life, it combines heat and lighting. Its design combines alternating profiles and shapes and allows different elements to be combined, resulting in a variety of configurations. Brasilia” features an open bar towel rail accessory, a single or double vertical hanging hook, and a horizontal ring integrated into the structure. Brasilia” is more than a radiator. It is both a functional element of your interior and an object of decoration sublimating the space in which it is placed.
9/ Design accessories are installed in the bathroom
Ever Life Design, which has made designer and functional bathroom accessories its specialty, presents the “Buck” collection. Designed to meet the modern needs of those who live in the house, Buck organizes the spaces in an original and modern way. Antonio Lupi continues to innovate by launching his concept “Cactus”. Designed by designer Brian Sironi, Cactus is a versatile, flexible and green object inspired, as you can imagine, by the desert plant. This clothes rack or towel rack, attaches from floor to ceiling with a thin and solid steel rod, interrupted by multiple hooks. A minimalist version of the coat rack designed as a modular object, which can be positioned in any room of the house: from the bathroom to the bedroom, from the living room to the kitchen. Cactus also exists in all colour ranges of the Antonio Lupi collections.
10/ Rounded shapes, a decorative trend well anchored in the bathroom
The geometric bathroom has not been around for a few years. The trend continues to be curves and roundness. They offer more sweetness and well-being in this room conducive to relaxation.
